Orphans who have been identified as “waiting children” are truly special treasures. These children have been classified by their birth countries as having medical or developmental needs or are simply considered more challenging to place in a family because they are older or part of a sibling group. All God’s Children is dedicated to finding homes for waiting children from our international partner countries, as well as through the Oregon Waiting Child program.

Waiting children may have special needs that many consider minor to moderate, including cleft lip and palate, congenital heart conditions, and developmental/physical delays. Other special needs require ongoing care, including cerebral palsy, spina bifida, deafness, blindness, and Down syndrome. Many families come to the program to help children with specific conditions, including limb deformities, autism, and hydrocephalus.

Waiting Children AdoptionA waiting child adoption frequently takes less time to complete than other programs. Additionally, grants are available to help financially with the adoption of waiting children.

AGCI has created a waiting child photo listing where families can view waiting children from different regions. Due to country restrictions and privacy concerns, all photos must be password protected. To access this site, you can register by completing a pre-application. Once registered, you will receive a password to access the waiting child photo listings.

To learn more about a specific child, review medical and background information, or view photos (and in some cases video), please contact Inquiry Services at (800) 214-6719 or info@allgodschildren.org.

McGINNIS FAMILYWaiting_McGinnis

“The lack of knowledge is the biggest fear for us. We didn’t know anything about cleft lip/palate when we received our first referral. Having the resources available through All God’s Children and the stories from real families that have been through this has been so valuable. We are currently pursuing our second adoption with a special needs little girl and it is almost funny to me that I was so scared the first time around. God will give us His peace if only we ask. He will provide the resources.”

“We were led to adopt a special needs child. Adopting an older child has its challenges at times, but it is worth every minute that we are together. Our only regret is that we did not adopt a special needs child sooner.”

TALL FAMILY

“We have adopted two beautiful and wonderful daughters from China. The joy they have brought to our lives outweighs their special needs. We feel so blessed to have these two girls in our lives!”

Welcome to AGCI’s Medical Information and Terminology page. We hope that this information is helpful for families as they consider adopting children with special needs. We would like to extend a special thanks to Love Without Boundaries for providing the information on medical needs and conditions.
