AGCI is so honored to announce the birth of our new Ukrainian adoption program. Many years ago God took us to the Ukraine and we believed that He had directed us to help the over 100,000 orphans living in orphanages throughout the country. Yet even though we were willing God did not open the door for us at that time. Now, almost 12 years later, God has opened the door to Ukraine. He has lead us to partner with an amazing Christian foreign partner who has been facilitating international adoptions in Ukraine for almost ten years. Our new Christian partners speak fluent English, Russian, and Ukrainian, and have excellent relationships with the State department for Adoptions in Kyiv. The children we will be allowed to place are between the ages of six to 16, and many little ones are sibling groups which include younger children. Please ask the Lord if He is asking you to cast your eyes toward the Ukraine. Children AvailableChildren from six to 16 years old are available for adoption. Many sibling groups are also available, which can include younger children from two to six years of age. Care in CountryChildren in Ukraine are cared for in the welfare institutes located throughout the country. Care ratios range on average from one caregiver to every five children. Due to living in an institution, most children may have developmental delays. TimeframeThe approximate time frame from application through finalization of the adoption is nine to 14 months. Get started on your adoption journey: request an adoption information packet. You'll also receive a free copy of The Strength of Mercy, a book about how AGCI began.
Ready to find your adoptive country? Each country has different adoption criteria. Fill out an adoption pre-application to help AGCI match you to the right adoption program.

Below is an overview of a Ukrainian adoption process from the time AGCI receives adoptive parents' completed dossier and home study. AGCI Sends Dossier for Translation - 2 to 4 weeks Once contracted with AGCI, your first step is to complete your dossier and home study. AGCI staff will assist your family in this paperwork process. Dossier Registration - 3 weeks to 4 months Once translated, your dossier has an initial review by staff at the State Department for Adoptions (SDA) and it is then registered. After registration, you will receive an official review date. Dossier Review/Invitation to Travel - 1 to 2 months Once your dossier is reviewed and approved, the SDA will schedule your appointment date and time and issue your family an invitation to travel. Referral Process - up to 30 days Once in-country, you will meet with the SDA to view information on available children. The information provided on each child will include one photo and basic medical history. Once a child is identified, you will receive an official referral and travel to the child's orphanage to visit. At this time, you will have the opportunity to view further medical information on the referred child and speak with the orphanage pediatrician, if available. Court Process - 2 to 3 weeks After meeting with the referred child and reviewing all medical information, you can choose whether or not to move forward with the adoption. If you decide to accept the referral, our in-country staff will gather necessary documentation and submit it to the local courts. You will then wait for a court hearing to be scheduled. After the hearing, you will wait 10 days for any appeals. The court decree is then issued and you can return to Kyiv for your U.S. embassy visa appointment. Travel Options Your total time in country to finalize an adoption is five to six weeks. Your family may choose to complete the adoption process in one or two trips. Both parents are required to travel for three to four weeks, until the court hearing is complete. One or both parents may then leave Ukraine. Two weeks later, one or both parents will travel back to Ukraine for 10 to 18 days to pick up their child and finish the adoption process. Post-Adoption Process - 18 years Upon arrival home, AGCI requires post-adoption visits and reports at three, six, and 12 months. Your child must also be registered with the Ukraine Consulate within 30 days. Family authored self-reports are due annually to the consulate for the first three years and then every third year until your child reaches 18 years of age. Rich in natural resources, Ukraine was once called the "Breadbasket of Europe" because of its fertile soil and beneficial climate. Ukraine is located in Eastern Europe and shares its border with seven countries, including Russia. It is partially bounded by two bodies of water - most notably the Black Sea. Ukraine is delineated into 24 providences (called oblasts) and Crimea, which is an autonomous republic. Kyiv is the capital of Ukraine and the largest city, followed by Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, and Odessa. Yalta is famous as the location for the Yalta Conference in 1945. Ukraine is a popular destination for North American, European, and Asian travelers with its world-class resorts that dot the Black Sea. http://www.worldatlas.com/webimage/countrys/europe/ua.htm Flag:
