Rwanda Adoption Program Update

AGCI is pleased to announce an exciting change in our Rwanda program. We are now accepting applications from families who wish to adopt a child from Rwanda between the ages of 1 to 3 years old. The Ministry of Family and Gender in Rwanda will match available children for adoption to approved families. Many of these children are currently residing in Mother Teresa's Home of Hope orphanage, located outside of Kigali. AGCI is excited to see what the future brings for our ministry as we journey into this beautiful land, full of amazing people.

Minnesota family adopts five children with AGCI

Pat and Jodi Haag lived a quiet life with their five children on their farm in Southwest Minnesota. A few years ago, they had the sense that something was missing. In their hearts, the answer was children.

As Pat said, "I felt we didn't have enough kids around." It turns out his wife Jodi was having the same feeling.

The two decided to adopt from Guatemala. They turned to All God's Children to help them through the process. But what started as one adoption from Guatemala led to five children from both Guatemala and Ethiopia.

Former Cincinnati TV reporter Mariah Gray Kolpek is preparing for the biggest story of her career.

Kolpek, 39, and two WCPO-TV staffers, are heading to Bulgaria July 14 to shoot her one-hour independent documentary to promote Bulgarian adoptions. She says she will have access to some of the 30 orphanages in the Eastern European country during her 10-day trip.

"This is a very personal thing. It is my passion," Kolpek says. She has adopted two children: Carter, 9, from Bulgaria in 2002, and Jordan, 2 1/2, from China last year. "I believe this will result with kids and families finding... read more

Muhammad Brings Children Home

On the dusty streets of Addis Ababa, a city in central Ethiopia, it's not unusual to see children of all ages running around barefoot. A country staggered by famine, drought, and the after-effects of civil war, Ethiopia has a high population of orphans who struggle daily for life on its streets. Most of these children lack the essentials they need to live: warm clothing, clean water, and enough food. The sight of these children moved one little boy to action. When six year old Muhsin Muhammad Jr., the son of the Chicago Bear wide receiver with the same name, saw an Ethiopian child without shoes, he stopped, took off his own shoes, and gave them to the boy. The boy responded by throwing his arms around little Muhsin.

The Muhammad family was in Ethiopia for the first time ever, and the experience astounded them. "It was so hard to see so much need in the country and then go home," Muhammad's wife Christa reflected. Muhsin and Christa recently... read more
