AGCI is partnering with Rivers of Hope children’s home to provide nearly 20 Haitian children with loving care, food, shelter, clothing and quality medical services on a daily basis.
In 2013, AGCI received official adoption accreditation approval by IBESR (the governing authority on adoption in Haiti). Yet shortly after this announcement was made, agencies received the difficult news that under IBESR’s new adoption law, just one child would be eligible to begin the adoption process each month. Sadly, the impact this will have on the children living in orphanages throughout Haiti, like Rivers of Hope, is staggering. In fact, just 12 of the many children that Rivers of Hope serves will have the opportunity to be united with a forever family this year.
What then for the children who are left behind? For many children, it means they will remain in the care of Rivers of Hope or another group home during their most critical years of their life. Now, more than ever, these children need our support.
