Nepal - Burns Family
Burns Family, OregonOur adoption journey began with prayers about whether or not we should have another child. While we were praying, a woman on the other side of the world in Nepal conceived the baby who would become our son. We were drawn to All God's Children because it is local and because we really liked the Hannah's Hope program. We knew our third child, our son, would be well loved at Hannah's Hope in Guatemala. One day, we received an email showing the first baby referred to an AGCI family from Nepal. She was absolutely beautiful. I was so excited that I met my husband half way down the stairs when he came home, and I announced, "We're switching countries!" Two months later, my husband was in Kathmandu, Nepal meeting our son for the first time. Little Shisir was born while we were still on the Guatemala waiting list. On the day of his birth, I dreamt we were to name him David. We knew only God could have led us to this child. What we didn't know was that we would face many struggles before we brought our baby home. Shortly after my husband's return, Nepal erupted in three weeks of demonstrations and violence that resulted in ousting the king from power. The updates from AGCI came in almost daily. We hung on every word. During that time, we had a doctor review Shisir's medical information. The staff at AGCI went above and beyond the call of duty when we told them the doctor had initial concerns. Their experience, wisdom, prayers, and doctor referrals were invaluable. The staff in Nepal took Shisir for tests as soon as curfews were lifted in Kathmandu and all concerns were alleviated. We will always be grateful to everyone involved. On September 19, 2006, after political upheaval, potential health issues, and 30 plus hours of travel, our happy, energetic, perfectly healthy son David Elijah Shisir met his older sisters for the first time. We were at last a family of five. "... and thou shalt know that I am the Lord; for they Thank you, AGCI, for helping bring our family together. |
