G001/Boy/Chronic Lung Disease/East Asia
This young 9 month old boy was born premature at only 28 weeks. He has already experienced much adversity in his short life but is a natural survivor. He spent the first 6 months in the ICU with a feeding and oxygen tube. On January 14, 2009 the child underwent a heart surgery to repair a ventricular septal defect which has been fully resolved. On April 18, 2009 his oxygen tube was removed at which point he underwent a throat surgery to reconstruct the muscles. He is still using a feeding tube while his sucking reflux develops more fully and currently being weaned off the breathing machine. The doctors do not consider his medical conditions to be severe and do not expect that he would make the disabled children's list in Taiwan.
This precious child is presently living in a children's nursery, although he is expected to be moved to a foster home in the very near future. It is reported that his biological mother was an alcoholic and drank throughout the duration of her pregnancy, although there are no indications of any effects of this in the child at this time.
He is in need of a loving family who will welcome him with open arms. This child has limitless potential and is expected to thrive in an adoptive home. Please pray for him as he waits for his forever family.
To adopt this child, applicants must be 25-55 years old. Single applicants are eligible for this program. Please see country criteria for complete requirements.
