Julia’s Family Restored

Losing her father in a tragic shooting cast a long shadow over Julia's* young childhood.

Not only did Julia lose her father that night, but she also began to lose her mother to alcoholism as she, gripped by overwhelming grief, turned to alcohol to cope.

Thankfully, Julia's grandmother, Alma*, stepped into the role as her primary caregiver.

Recognizing changes in Julia as a result of the trauma she'd endured—aggressive behavior, disregard for authority and instructions, lack of discipline and structure—Alma sought out therapy with one of our partners in Guatemala.

Simultaneously, Alma began to receive assistance from our family psychologist.

Through therapy, Alma unlocked a path to healing and reached out to Julia's mom to do the same.

Through the relentless efforts of the psychologists, teachers, and Julia's devoted grandmother, the whole family began to find hope.

We thank and glorify God that Julia's family has been restored!

And we pray He continues to work in the lives of all the children and families we serve, so they might all know the joy His healing power unlocks!
